Forward Equality Endorses John Ewing for Congress!!

Forward Equality’s purpose is to work with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allied (LGBTQA) youths/adults to promote equality and respect. We feel that a way to bring about equality is through our government, and our elected officials.

Forward Equality has decided to back John Ewing for Congress in 2012. The reasons we back John Ewing starts with the fact that John Ewing backs President Barack H. Obama and John Ewing believes in the same principles, as does President Barack Obama. John Ewing believes in equality and promises that he will fight for equality for all and he has promised to back the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, which bars the recognition of all legal marriages between same-sex couples. John supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which will ban discrimination based on gender identity, and sexual orientation. John supports the Safe Schools Improvement Act, which will protect all of America’s students from bullying and harassment on a number of characteristics including perceived or actual gender identity and sexual orientation. John supports the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which will ban discrimination against students based on their perceived or actual gender identity and sexual orientation. John supports the Every Child Deserves a Family Act, which would prohibit any adoption, or foster care agency that receives federal money from discriminating against potential adoptive or foster parents based on sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status.

Forward Equality believes that we must get current Representative Lee Terry out of office because of his continues anti-queer polices that have and will continue to hurt our families, children, and neighbors. As the Omaha World Herald said in their article endorsing John Ewing for Congress, “After 14 years, it’s time for a change.” This is a change that our families need. Vote for John Ewing for Congress on Tuesday, November 6, 2012!!
